Moving Around
-How it Changed my Life

I’m sure I wouldn’t have been the same person as I am today if I wouldn’t have experienced so much when I was small. Already when I was under one year old I and my parents left for Israel during one and a half year. We moved back to Sweden and then, when I was 7 years old it was time for a move again. This time we moved to Holland. When I was about 9, 10 years old we moved back to Sweden, we had then been living in Holland for approximately two and a half years. We lived in Sweden for about four years and went to international schools to keeps our English going. Then in 2004 we moved to Lithuania, and its here I’ve ended up.

I don’t recall any memories from when I lived in Israel, it’s all form what I have heard from my parents and what I have seen on photos and videos. My dad came there to work as a military, for the FN. My mother and I came with since he was only going to live there for about a year. They say we lived in a white house with a big green garden where there were lemon trees, avocados, oranges, and grapes growing in the garden. It was certainly very hot and sometimes it could even reach up to 45 degrees Celsius as the most. At these times my parents used to either go to the grocery stores, or go for a drive in the car for a while to cool down. Actually I don’t think that the fact that I lived in Israel affected my life, but I would really want to go back and see where I lived and so on.

When we moved home the only memory I have is that I’m at my grandmothers’ house and the telephone rings. At that time I was only four years old. She picks up the phone and gives it to me after a few words in the phone. It’s my father and he tells me that I have got a sister. I didn’t believe him which is very strange since I had already picked a name for her. Julia. I picked the name Julia since there is a Swedish song that I used to sing when I was small and I had always loved that name.

As said I moved to Holland when I was seven years old. I was going to go to an American international school, but I couldn’t say a word in English, in fact I couldn’t even tell apart on yes and no. I had a really hard time in the beginning, but after half a year I could already speak pretty good English. The school was huge; over 2000 people went to the school if not even more. In the beginning it was hard to get friends, but there were quite many Danish people that I used to play with during the recesses but as I got better at English I got more and more friends. The only problem was that everyone moved all the time, and that was probably the most hard part about living there apart from doing all the homework every night, which was a lot more than we used to have in Sweden. While we lived in Holland we would often go to France, Belgium, and Germany on the vacations since we live at the border of all three countries. I really enjoyed driving around in France since we would go and look at old castles and military gears such as old tanks and aircraft carriers. The hardest part was when it was time to leave. I had learnt so much and I actually loved the school and all the people in it. But then I realized that I was finally going to go to a Swedish school again which lightened the situation a bit.

When we had moved back I went to an international school called Atlas. It was a quite small school and my grade consisted of ca 18 people. I immediately got friends and I was actually the best at English in that grade. In that school everyone ad to learn Spanish since a great minority were from Spain in that school. Unfortunately I don’t remember a single word today, you forget fast. However, I went to that school for about four years, until I was 13. Then I moved to another school which was call Engelska Skolan, which means The English School. I went to the English school for one year and then it was time for another move. Lithuania.

Moving to Lithuania was the hardest thing I have ever done, and sometimes I really regret it while sometimes I feel happy I’m living here. Lithuania hasn’t really changed my life, but I have learnt a lot of thing about how different societies work. Lithuania is quite different in every aspect except perhaps the nature. It’s hard to explain why, but it feels like Lithuania is a step behind if you would compare it to Sweden. There are many things I like about Lithuania, for example the old town because the architecture is so nice, and the traditional food here is quite god too.

I came here to Lithuania in 2004, I was 13, 14 years old and I went to 8th grade. There were only three girls in my class which was a very big difference since there were 32 people in my old class. In the beginning it was sad that there were so few people, but I soon got used to it and I had a really great time and I would actually say that the first year was the best of these three, so far. During the summers I have gone home to Sweden, to our summerhouse. We have spent the whole vacation in our summerhouse and I have had a chance meeting me friends. Last year, years 2005 to 2006, there were actually six people as the most which was the double of the first year, and this year it’s six again.

These moves have of course affected my life and I think it was mostly fun to move around and see a bit of the outside world. I have of course experienced a lot more than any of my friends have, and I think this will help me in my future life. Right now I’m longing to move home to Sweden and begin the new school, and I’m now choosing if I’m going to take an international direction or not, something I probably wouldn’t have considered if I hadn’t learnt English in the way I have. In the future I want to see more of the world and I have probably put more demands on my future since I have already seen so much of the outside world. If you would ask me, I wouldn’t want to change my past one single bit.

My Story... Quite strange but yeah...!

Kate Flynn and the lost watch
(One syllable story)

Kate Flynn was waked up this fifth day of the week by her friend Bess. Her close friend Bess had been on at a snooze party on the fourth day of the week at Kate’s house and they had had a great time. Now it was time to go to school. Kate and Bess were quite tense this dawn since they had set up an act for their class this day. They were set a task to recall an old thing. They went to school by buss. When they had come to the school, Kate and Bess met all their friends. It was a day with much sun and the sky was blue. It was a warm day and most of their friends were clothed in thin clothes since it was so hot. The head of the school, a man with thick specs and ancient clothes, was in front of the school as he was all the time this time of day. When Kate and Bess went in the school they were met by a cold breeze. It was an old school with thick stone walls and huge and old works of art on the walls. They went to their shelves and got all the books they had to have for the day.

To be continued...

What is happening???

We strted off seeing the film Hamlet and now we have begun to read the book.
We have just read a little bit but so far, as I have understood it, two soldiers and Hamlets friend Horatio have seen the dead King of Denmarks' spirit and they go to Hamlet and tells him... That is what I have understood, but theer are more details...
When Horatio and the two soldiers first sees the ghost they don't believe themselves, so they are talking to each other and convincing each other that they are seeing the same thing and that they are right... When they come to Hamlet, Hamlet does not believe them at first but he wants to find out more, and thats when we stopped reading.
It is actually quite fun reading out loud in that old languge, yeah it is quite hard to understand but i guess you lern that old language as you read more...

Shakespeare

William Shakespeares' quote "This above all: to thine own self be true" means that you should not try to be someone that you aren't. It means that you should do only the things that feels good in your heart and it means that you should treat others the way you want to be treated. That's atleat what I think! =)

Hamlet

The charecter of Hamlet, ca 150 words:

‘Hamlet’ is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare in or about 1586. The play follows the story of a young and emotional young man named Hamlet. The play begins with that Hamlets father, the King, has died very rapidly and unexpectedly. His fathers’ death was a shock to him and when his mother, the Queen, get married only two months after the death of Hamlets father, Hamlet becomes suspicious. Quite early in the play some men come to Hamlet and claim that they have seen his fathers’ spirit. Hamlet believes them and the following night Hamlet patiently waits for his fathers’ spirit and meets him. The spirit tells Hamlet that it was Hamlets’ uncle, the new king who murdered his father. Hamlet then pretends to be mad so that his uncle doesn’t suspect Hamlet knows anything about his secret and all the people around him betrays him by standing on his uncles’ side. Hamlet decides not to trust anyone.

The Invisible Man:
Theme: Corruption of morals in the absence of social restriction.

The Invisible Man is a famous 1987 science fiction novel written by H.G. Wells. It tells the story about a brilliant but obsessed scientist called Griffin who is dedicated in achieving invisibility which he also does. The main theme of the novel is the corruption of morals in the absence of social restriction. H. G. Wells uses the Invisible Man to show how low a person can sink when he does not have any limits or rules that are able control his behavior. This essay follows and gives examples of how the invisible Man is becoming insane by not having to follow the rules of society.
In the beginning of the novel the Invisible Man comes to a small village of Iping in the area of West Sussex. The novel starts about midway into his own story since he has been moving from town to town to keep his cover and to protect the discovery his two acts of violence that he has committed. The Invisible Man has understood that he has made a terrible mistake and that he has to desist it somehow. He decides to go to the small and peaceful town so that he can get some time to work on an antidote for his invisibility.
In the beginning of the book one already can understand that the Invisible Man is quite lonely because he is not very dedicated in talking or communicating to the people of the small village. The major problem with his invisibility is that Griffin isn't able to have any friends. The only time the Invisible Man can communicate to people is when he is wrapped up in bandages and it looks as though he has been in a serious accident. Without the Invisible Man being able to have any human contact or support, he is literally intended to become crazy.
The Invisible Man strongly believes that he is superior to the society and he believes that he can do anything for his own survival, even killing or stealing. One example that proves that the Invisible Man is going insane is when he says, “Not wanton killing, but a judicious slaying.” (p.114). This point proves that the Invisible Man wants to have complete control over everybody through terror and later in the book he states that he wants to start the “Epoch of the Invisible Man.”(ch.27). This point also confirms the Invisible Mans’ thirst for power.
Another point that proves that the Invisible Man is becoming insane and loosing control is in the end of the book as he is talking to Kemp. He says “This is day one of year one of the new epoch—the Epoch of the Invisible Man. I am Invisible Man the First. To begin with the rule will be easy. The first day there will be one execution for the sake of example—a man named Kemp. Death starts for him to-day.” (ch.27).
Because the Invisible Man is mad and the only invisible human being in the world, he also poses a great threat to the community. Through his invisibility the Invisible Man gets great power; he can steal, kill, and he can abuse people without having fear of being caught. When the Invisible Man says; “It's useful in getting away, it's useful in approaching. It's particularly useful, therefore, in killing”(p., one can understand that he is taking use of his invisibility and that he is not very ashamed of becoming a detestable man.
It is certain that the Invisible Man has gone completely insane which is proven in the end of the book as he talks to Kemp and says, “Not wanton killing, but a judicious slaying. The point is, they know there is an Invisible Man -- as well as we known there is an Invisible Man. And that Invisible Man, Kemp, must now establish a Reign of Terror.” (p.114)
It is quite easy to understand that the Invisible Man, Griffin becomes insane. One point and the greatest reason for his craziness is that he doesn’t have to follow any rules since no one can control him which gives his a wide range of opportunities that a normal person is not capable of doing. This temptation is too strong for him to resist and he uses his unique chance.

Wells "invented" science- fiction and he wrote many famous books such as The Time Machine and War of the Worlds. The Invisible Man is basically about a scientist who discoveres how to become invisible and tests it on himself. But then his problem is that he doesn't know how to become visible again... SCARY!
I hope it'll be a good and interesting book...!

Well, I don't really know what to write... But, well, I just finished my essay... On Bryan Adams album "So Far So Good". I hope it'll be ok... Well, my favorite song on the album are "Summer of 69'" and "Run to you".

I really enjoyed writing this essay because we got to choose an album that we like, it also gives you and opportunity to think of why you like the album. This essay was also really helpful because we got to learn how to analyse an album!
